Polygon (formerly Matic) is a sidechain (i.e. a secondary blockchain) connected to the Ethereum network, which enables greater scalability and faster transactions than the Ethereum network can currently process on its own. Any item that you own on Polygon can be ported to Ethereum, and vice versa.
